چکیده

An attempt was made to analyze differences in the results obtained by various kinds of finger plethysmography, such as penetration photo-electric plethysmograph (penet.-PTG), reflexion photo-electric PTG (refl.-PTG), mechanoelectric PTG (pneumo-PTG and hydro-PTG) and impedance PTG, by taking simultaneous recordings principally from the same finger tip. Comparisons of the time course (onset time and crest time) and the wave form (harmonic analysis and base line deviation) of each pulse wave were made with the standard records of the penet.-PTG depicted simultaneously. Experiments were repeated on 15 healthy adults. No significant differences were observed in the time course and wave form among the records obtained by various kinds of plethysmographs, so far as the records obtained from the finger tip were concerned, whereas appreciable differences were recognized in the time course as well as in the wave form, when the proximal

Limitations of electric impedance plethysmography.

Klectrie impedance plethysmography has been offered as a substitute for mechanical plethysmography and would be particularly suitable for regions in which the mechanical method cannot be applied. A comparative investigation of mechanical and impedance plethysmograms, taken simultaneously from a finger or a forearm, revealed that, while the normal pulsations were reproduced reasonably well, elec...

Finger plethysmography--a method for monitoring finger blood flow during sleep disordered breathing.

We investigated a non-invasive measurement for changes in finger blood flow during wakefulness and sleep. Changes in finger blood flow, reflected by pulse wave amplitude (PWA) derived from finger plethysmography, were compared with changes in forearm vascular flow assessed by venous occlusion plethysmography after intra-arterial infusion of norepinephrine (NE), phentolamine, and isoproterenol (...

Review of different quantification methods for the diagnosis of digital vascular abnormalities in hand-arm vibration syndrome.

OBJECTIVE This study was undertaken to review the diagnostic ability of different quantification methods in the assessment of vibration-induced white finger (VWF), the typical clinical manifestation of vascular injuries in Hand-arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS). METHODS A literature search of original and major review articles related to the quantification techniques for diagnosing vascular injur...

Pulse Wave Analysis Digital Plethysmography Finger Plethysmography Accelerated Plethysmography Clinical Bottom Line - The Simple Explanation

The digital plethysmograph is a secondary output of the pulse oximeter, which is commonly used to measure arterial blood saturation (SaO2)61. Digital plethysmography provides noninvasive, continuous, and real-time measurement of arterial pressure with infrared light transmitted through a digit (finger or toe)62. This technique acquires the digital volume pulse (DVP), a waveform that estimates p...

A Comparative Study on Tendon Transfer Surgery in Patients with Radial Nerve Palsy

BACKGROUND Lesions in peripheral nerves are highly prevalent in the upper extremity. The present study compares different tendon transfer surgeries in patients with radial nerve palsy. METHODS Fifty patients with radial nerve palsy were randomly selected among patients who referred to Tehran 15th Khordad Hospital during 2006-2011. They were divided into two groups of 17 and 33 subjects. Sing...
